Emma

Since being involved with P4E, Emma's confidence has grown and she feels that she can now communicate better with other people. Emma teaches Art and Crafts on a Thursday at Hafal, she also teaches at Penlan on a Monday.

Emma is going to Ty-Einon to be an assistant Art and Craft Teacher. She really enjoys teaching Art and Craft, it enables her to meet new people, while making some new friends along the way. Emma has produced some lovely products too.

Emma has been doing Hairdressing for seven years, but she has no qualifications at the moment. Emma hopes to change that by going to collage in September as she would like to become a qualified Hairdresser.

Emma's first passion is to become a full time teacher in Arts and Crafts in the near future.

Emma feels that if she had gone to the Job Centre she would not have been offered the job she loves doing. Without the help from P4E and Paula at C.D.C. plus
Ty-Einon she would not have got this far.

Deborah

Hi, my name is Deborah. My first experience of Cwmbwrla Day Centre was an introduction to Mike Smith and having use of the Computer Room to practice my CLAIT course with Mike's help last summer, plus I had a work placement at Swansea College, Tycoch in the Personnel Department. Now I have been working on Reception at Cwmbwrla Day Centre since 2002. During this time I have improved my social skills and my self-esteem has been boosted as a result. I have now progressed and felt confident enough to do another placement at the Gorseinon Regeneration Office one-day a week thanks to the help and guidance of the Employment team.

Jeanette

First of all, let me introduce myself. My name is Jeanette and I work two days a week on reception at Cwmbwrla Day Centre. I am not going to discuss myself but let someone else to explain to you "How P4E has helped" them to move on. The young lady's name is Laura, so please read on and see how much P4E can also help you decide about your future.

Laura worked on reception for six months. Laura found that it had given her confidence to meet and talk to people. While she was working on reception at C.D.C. Laura attended Computers with Mike Smith, which led Laura to pass her CLAIT course.

Laura had a review with Peter Collins to discuss her plans for the near future. Peter works at C.D.C. and is our Employment Needs Co-ordinator. Laura wanted to work in an office as part of a team, so Peter secured a placement in Human Resources in Swansea College for six weeks. Laura got on well with the people she worked with and did well. Most importantly, she enjoyed the experience.

When her six weeks had ended she was given the opportunity to continue. Laura was looking for full-time employment, when it was suggested that she try for a Modern Apprenticeship. Laura thought it was a good idea and applied through Skill Seekers.

Laura had an interview Modern Apprenticeship Scheme manager who offered her the job there and then. Laura is now employed full-time at Swansea College and is working towards her N.V.Q. level three in Administration. Laura has had this job for twelve months and is doing really well.

Laura states that without the help of the Employment Services at C.D.C. she would not have this job. Employment Needs has put her in touch with the right people at the right time and helped Laura gain the experience and skills she needed.

Laura is very grateful to the Employment Services at C.D.C. and totally supports P4E.

Laura has worked hard to get where she is today, and we are all proud of her. Well done. I hope than once you have finished reading "How P4E has helped Me" you will realise that it can also help you too.
